Placemaking Europe in Helsingborg H22 City EXPO- Day 2

Greetings from H22 City Expo with wishes for a happy & sunny midsummer to you all.

Day 2 of Placemaking Europe in Helsingborg was very special for me. It took place in Drottninghög area, where I grew up when my family moved from Iraq to Sweden for 12 years ago.

We had a tour of DM (Do More) a unique urban farming and marketplace project initiated by IKEA.

I moderated a session on Rapid Inspiration from placemakers. I highly recommend you to follow them on Linkedin because you will get so much inspiration. I love when people bring together placemaking and their own talent/perspective e.g. illustration & placemaking, Politics & Placemaking, journalism & Placemaking …

Then we went for workshops with a focus on cities for children/playful cities and physical activities.

We finished day 2 by listening to a very inspiring and impactful speech by the amazing Katja Lindroos (The CEO of Urban Practice, a Helsinki-based office working with urban change, and the co-founder of Nordic CityMaking Week). She focussed on the activism part of our work, it was about whether we all are really ready to work with big urgencies that our cities are facing or whether we choose the easier path. The questions on the slide were: How ambitious is our agenda? What do we commit to?

🏅 Thanks for the very very well-organized event Moa SundbergCecilia FredrikssonCharlot SchansMarta PopiołekAlice Bazzica & Anna Louise Bradley .

12 years ago I thought I will be alone in Sweden, but after 12 years, I am here with a big family of Placemakers from the EU and all around the world, and with a fantastic Urbanistica Podcast – Cities for People community with listeners from 125 countries. Thank you for making my life so beautiful.

Keep up the good work
Keep loving Cities
