Mustafa Sherif – Jury Member at FIRST® LEGO® League 2025 at Tekniska Museet

On November 8, 2025, Mustafa Sherif, urban planner and podcast host of Urbanistica Podcast, participated as a jury member at this year’s FIRST® LEGO® League Challenge at Tekniska Museet in Stockholm.

The event gathered more than 40 teams of curious and creative children aged 10–16, who spent weeks designing and programming their own LEGO® robots and researching innovative projects related to this year’s theme UNEARTHED™, exploring archaeology and how technology can help us understand past civilizations.

FIRST® LEGO® League is a global educational program organized by Tekniska Museet in collaboration with FIRST Scandinavia and Hjernekraft, aiming to inspire young people to discover the joy of science, engineering, and teamwork. The competition day included robot matches, project presentations, and awards celebrating innovation, inclusion, and creativity, all guided by the League’s core values: Discovery, Innovation, Impact, Inclusion, Teamwork, and Fun.

Jury Work and Awards

As part of the jury team, Mustafa Sherif contributed to evaluating the teams’ innovation projects, creativity, and collaboration. Together with experts from industry, academia, and education, he helped highlight how curiosity and cooperation can build bridges between school and real-world professions.

During the award ceremony, Mustafa had the honor of presenting the Team Leader Award to Team The Stars with the following motivation:

“This award goes to a team that, in a creative and engaging way, has sparked children’s interest in history and archaeology. Through visits to historical sites, reading books, and using games that connect digital and physical environments, they have created an inspiring and educational experience.”

About the Event

The 2025 regional tournament at Tekniska Museet was filled with energy, innovation, and teamwork. Teams showcased how technology, imagination, and collaboration can solve real-world challenges. Winners from the Stockholm tournament will go on to represent Sweden in the Scandinavian Final in Stavanger, Norway, later in November.

As expressed by many jury members, the event was a true source of inspiration, showing that the engineers, designers, and researchers of tomorrow are already building their ideas today, one LEGO® brick at a time.
