❄️ Nordic Placemaking Network kickoff!
Last week, we gathered in Copenhagen for the first Nordic Placemaking Network workshop, bringing together placemakers from local networks across the region.
🏡 The workshop took place at the cozy Villa Kultur. It was brilliantly facilitated by Mathilde Riou—a true star, urbanist, visual thinker, and collaboration facilitator who guided our discussions with clarity and creativity.
🔍 Key Topics We Explored:
– Defining Our Mission – Raising the impact and visibility of placemaking in the Nordics through collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and advocacy.
– What Makes Nordic Placemaking Unique? Addressing the challenges and opportunities related to climate, social culture, and governance structures.
– Building a Nordic Case Library – How can we collect best practices to highlight inspiring placemaking projects and support practitioners across the region?
– Strengthening the Network – Expanding through online and physical meet-ups, securing funding, and increasing our international presence.
🌱 Next Steps:
This workshop was just the beginning. Over the coming months, we’ll continue growing this initiative, building connections, fostering collaboration, and securing funding.
✨ I am so happy to see this dream coming true, starting as an idea, evolving into a panel during Placemaking Europe week with PlacemakingX Executive Director Ethan Kent. Now, we are applying for further funding to formally establish the network and build a strong foundation. I am grateful for the engagement of the placemaking leaders who are helping make this dream a reality. Sometimes, it’s just about bringing people together at the right time, because many may share the same dream or idea as you.
