Will cities in reality look like the cities we see in movies?

MUSTAFA SHERIF PLACEMAKING URBANISTICA PODCAST

How can/should/will future cities look? Will cities in reality look like the cities we see in movies?

This was the topic of my speech at the Future Maker Summit in Istanbul, organized by PMI Turkey Chapter. I talked about how cities have developed through history and how we are developing our cities today. I showed some of the worst and best practices from different cities around the world.

There is a lot to learn from history. One significant lesson is that if cities are built too quickly, they often face major problems just as quickly. Cities are not like Lego bricks that we can simply put together; they are complex systems with many layers and interests. Cities take time to plan and build, and they are never truly finished.

Thanks for the invitation Dilara Çetin, and a big thanks to the fantastic PMI Turkey Chapter for your positive energy, passion, and love for project management and shaping the future, Keep up the good work!

Part of my passion as an urbanist is to share knowledge about cities. Feel free to book me if you want a passionate speaker to talk about urban planning and design. Send me a message on LinkedIn or email me at info@mustafasherif.com
